Functions & Responsibilities: - Under the general supervision of the Product Development Coordinator:
- Mechanical, makes necessary calculations using engineering principles to design and develop equipment as it relates to food service equipment (juicers, sectionizers).

- Performs Solid Modeling CAD and drafting functions to generate, update, improve and revise design drawings.

- Makes recommendations on design changes for economics, performance, quality enhancement and production issues.
- Establishes and monitors quality control programs for all products.
- Travels to technical, trade and profession conferences.
- Consults with associated professionals on select research activities.
- Works with patent attorneys as required.

Contacts with Others:
Works closely with Research Engineering: project engineers, technicians and persons. Frequent contact with production, manufacturing and field service departments. Outside frequent contacts include packinghouse personnel, vendors, research organizations, consultants, university research personnel and government agencies. Periodically works with patent attorneys.
Education Requirements:
Bachelors Degree in Mechanical or Agricultural Engineering or Equivalent Design Experience. Masters Degree a plus.
Experience Requirements: - The qualified applicant must be a self-starter and have 3 years work experience with engineering principles, food equipment, automation, materials handling equipment or related machine design.
- The applicant must have demonstrated the ability to work concurrently on several projects, establish project goals and complete activities with minimal supervision.
- Demonstrated innovation and creativity is necessary.
- Solid Modeling CAD proficiency is required (Autodesk Inventor or Pro-Engineer preferred).
- Autocad 2-D experience is desirable.
- Knowledge of shop techniques and production methods is desirable.
- Awareness of the food industry and familiarity with food processing/handling operations is a plus.
- Cost or production analysis experience is not necessary but would be beneficial.
- Must be able to communicate effectively orally and in writing.
- Some domestic and international travel is required.

High school graduate with mechanical and electronic classes or equivalent. Post high school electronics courses preferred.
Experience Requirements: - Five years progressively responsible experience in the repair and maintenance of electronic equipment and/or electronic components.
- Should be competent in blueprint reading, interpretation of electrical schematics, and control circuits.
- Also have knowledge of plumbing, pneumatic, and vacuum systems.
- Must be willing and able to lift 60 lbs.
- Experience in computers, software and use of oscilloscope, multi-meters and other test related equipment required.
- Must have a valid driver’s license.
- Willing to travel within and outside the United States as the job may dictate for periods typically not to exceed three weeks at a time.

Quality Assurance Leader Date Posted: 2008-03-19 Department: CJ&O Plant Operations Reports To: Leader Technical & Production Development Location: Tipton, CA Salary Range: DOEE Job Code: QAL/TIP-S.C
Functions & Responsibilities: - Responsible for the Quality Control Laboratory activities at the Tipton Processing Plant.
- Serves as the primary liaison between Technical Services and Operations at the Tipton plant.
- Manages the activities of technical personnel to facilitate the efficient analysis of Sunkist products and the prompt accurate analysis of incoming fruit.
- Responsible for in-process and finished product quality control, plant sanitation program, waste water analysis and fruit receival testing.
- Develop and implement a variety of procedures and management systems to ensure compliance with pertinent food regulations (cGMP, HACCP) and product specifications; perform necessary analyses using standard microbiological & chemical techniques; prepare media and reagents required for microbiological analyses; establish & maintain quality control & food safety programs primarily for bulk aseptic storage operations.
- Investigates processing and product quality problems.
- Recommends and implements necessary corrective action to resolve problems.
- Responsible for the timely and accurate update of instrument calibration logs.
- Makes frequent oral and written reports to Operations and the Senior Leadership team. Prepares weekly reports on product quality and any related problems.
- Participates in planning and achieving short and long term department objectives.
- Responsible for selection, training and supervision of subordinate employees.
- Responsible for implementing and carrying out Equal Employment and Affirmative Action programs in his/her unit.
- Responsible for compliance and applicable variances of the Quality Control operating budget.
- Performs data entry of technical and operating information.
Contacts with Others:
Customers, Laboratory staff, hourly employees, Inventory Administration, Operations Management personnel, support staff and vendors.
Education Requirements:
Bachelor Degree in Microbiology, Chemistry, Food Science or a related scientific field or equivalent. An advanced degree in food science, chemistry, or a related scientific field may substitute for experience.
Experience Requirements: - Five years experience in a senior technical function including experience in laboratory quality control procedures plus one year of experience in a position applying quality, food safety, and microbiology applications in both aseptic and non-aseptic production processing conditions in a food-manufacturing environment.
- Demonstrated ability to direct work activities of others.
- Must be available weekends, holidays and other than daytime work hours for consultation with staff and customers.
- Must be available to travel for periods up to two weeks at any time.
- Must have the ability to communicate, both verbally and in writing, effectively in English and be computer literate.
- Must have the ability to develop and implement standard operating procedures; have a practical understanding of food regulations (cGMP, HACCP).
- Must possess and demonstrate solid analytical and problem solving skills.
- Possession of a valid unrestricted driver’s license.
- Prior to the end of the first full year of employment, will be required to successfully complete Sunkist provided training in accordance with 22 CCR 66265 for hazardous waste management and knowledge of emergency response procedures in accordance with the HWMP’s Employee Training Plan. This training may be supplemented with outside coursework as necessary.
