MyPlate: Your Guide to Healthy Meals

MyPlate is a new dietary guidance symbol that was released in June 2011 by the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA). Based on the science behind the 2010 Dietary Guidelines for Americans, MyPlate shows the proportions of foods that make up a healthy meal and a healthy diet. MyPlate recommends that you make half your plate fruits and vegetables. One-quarter of your plate should be lean protein and the other quarter should be grains, mostly whole grains. For beverages, choose low-fat dairy, coffee, tea or water.
