Las Vegas, NV (April 2009) - Originally from China, Meyer lemons are thought to be a cross between a regular lemon and a mandarin or an orange. Their juice is sweeter and less acidic than regular lemons and they have a thin, smooth rind that is bright in color.

Once only found at local farmers’ markets or specialty stores in California, the Meyer lemon is seeing a strong increase in demand across the country. And now, Sunkist has Meyer lemons available year round. They come in an attractive half carton (20 lb.) size and in convenient 1 lb. net bags.

Meyer lemons have long been a favorite of well-known chefs, gourmet cooks and food enthusiasts for their bright skin, fragrant aroma and their delicious, fresh taste, but they are now working their way into the mainstream through increased usage on television food networks and in consumer-friendly recipes.

Because of their unique sweeter taste, Meyer lemons are perfect for lemon-based desserts and lemonades (while requiring less sugar). Whether they are bright yellow or a rich yellow-orange, they are ripe and ready to use.
