Sunkist Raises a Glass to Yi Cuisine for Mixing the Sexiest Signature Citrus Drink
America’s Search for the Sexiest in Citrus Drinks Yields Sweet Results for Los Angeles
April 21, 2005
SHERMAN OAKS, Calif. (April 21, 2005) – Top bartenders from the coolest bars across the nation have been shaking up the nightlife by introducing a refreshing array of fresh citrus blended beverages. Thousands of savvy consumers answered Sunkist’s invitation to sample and select the freshest blend. James O’Shea of Yi Cuisine in Los Angeles prevailed for tantalizing the taste buds of voters.
O’Shea, Yi Cuisine’s eminent mixologist, has built his reputation on the smooth but bold combinations he mixes up. Lemonasia, his winning blend, takes his signature style to new levels with a cool citrus kick. The right balance of refreshing lemon juice, cold sake, sweet and sour, triple sec and citrus vodka makes this sake-tini easygoing and refreshing. O’Shea claims that his secret ingredients are the fresh-squeezed fruit juices and being able to read the trends to anticipate what customers want.
“Variations of the sake-tini are still evolving,” says O’Shea. “Blending sake with fresh fruit is an emerging trend, and fresh lemon provides subtle citrus undertones for those who enjoy a smooth, refreshing blend of flavors.”
Bars from around the nation entered to compete for the Sunkist Sexy Citrus title this spring. After an initial round of tasting, judges narrowed the competition down to two finalists, and called on consumers to determine the winner. Since mid-March, the finalists from Los Angeles’ chic Yi Cuisine and New York’s trendy Glass Lounge have competed to blend the best Sunkist Sexy Citrus drink to win $5,000 and national bragging rights for creating an incomparable citrus refreshment.
