March 1, 2002, Sherman Oaks, Calif…..Sunkist President and Chief Executive Officer Jeffrey D. Gargiulo today announced the appointment of Jim Padden of Newport Beach as Vice President and Chief Operating Officer for Sunkist Growers, Inc., the international citrus marketing cooperative headquartered in Sherman Oaks, California. In this newly created position, Padden will concentrate on streamlining the day-to-day operation of the company, focusing on implementing efficiencies and customer-focused initiatives. "Jim brings to Sunkist broad management experience in operations, sales, marketing, finance and distribution in the food industry," said Gargiulo. "He also brings valuable expertise in the value-added category which will help Sunkist in developing our strategies in that area." Padden comes to Sunkist from FJ Foodservice, Inc, a value-added meat business he helped to found and where he served as President. Prior to his work with FJ Foodservice, he served as General Manager of another value-added meat business, Young's Market Company, which was sold to Con Agra. Padden then headed a division of Con Agra for three years. Padden's produce experience includes three years as a Vice President for a division of Albert Fisher. He also currently works with SDG Foods, a small company specializing in pre-cooked, value-added vegetables. Padden holds a Bachelor of Science from the University of California Santa Barbara and a Masters in Business Administration from the University of Southern California.
