Wait until you try this! If you like cheese sauce over your veggies you are going to love Broccoli with Cheesy Tangerine Sauce. The addition of tangerine to the sauce is superb!

Ingredients:

  • 1 ½ cups fresh broccoli spears, cooked and drained*
  • 1 small onion, chopped
  • 2 Tbsp. butter or margaine
  • 1 Tbsp. flour
  • 1 ¼ cups milk
  • 1 cup shredded Monterey Jack, Brick or ther mild white cheese
  • 1 Sunkist® tangerine, zested
  • 2 Sunkist® tangerines, peeled, segmented and seeded

    *Any vegetable can be substitued for the broccoli. Califlower, green beans, asparagus, etc.

Instructions: (Makes 6 servings)

  • To make sauce, sauté onion in butter until tender. Remove from heat, stir in flour. Gradually add milk, cook over medium heat stirring until thickened. Add cheese, tangerine zest and segments stirring until cheese melts. Serve sauce over vegetable of you choice.
