This is great! Chocolate Pizza with yellow cake as the crust, lemon creme the sauce, candied lemon peel and chocolate pieces are the toppings along with a drizzle of fudge. Yum!


  • Crust:
  • 1 box yellow cake mix
  • 2/3 cup Sunkist® fresh lemon juice
  • 2 Tbsp. Sunkist® freshly grated lemon peel
  • 1/3 cup oil

  • Lemon Crème:
  • 1/2 lb. powdered sugar
  • 1/2 cup (1 stick) unsalted margarine, at room temperature
  • 2 Tbsp. Sunkist® fresh lemon juice
  • 1 Tbsp. Sunkist® freshly grated lemon peel
  • 3 drops yellow food color (optional)

  • Topping:
  • 2 Sunkist® lemons, unpeeled and sliced into half circles, pulp removed (for candied lemon peel)
  • Sugar, as needed
  • 2 cups chopped bittersweet chocolate (about 12 oz.) or chocolate chips
  • 1 cup fudge topping

  • Preparation: Preheat oven to 350 degrees.

Instructions: (Makes 16 servings)

  • Candied Lemon Peel: Place lemon in small saucepan and cover with cold water, bring slowly to a boil. Remove from heat, drain well over colander. Repeat this process, drain and dry thoroughly. Roll in sugar. Spread out on waxed paper to dry, store in refrigerator until ready to use. (May be made several days in advance).
  • Crust: Grease two 11" tart pans. Line bottoms with wax paper. Combine ingredients in a large bowl blending thoroughly with electric mixer. Beat for 3 minutes at medium speed. Pour evenly into pans. Bake 20 to 25 minutes until tested done. Cool for 10 minuites, remove crusts from pans, turning each unside down on an 11" cardboard circle and set aside.
  • Lemon Crème: Combine ingredients in a large bowl, beat at medium/high speed with an electric mixer for 2 to 3 minutes.
  • To Assemble Pizza: Spread equal amounts of lemon crème on top of crusts. Sprinkle chocolate evenly over lemon crème. Arrange lemon peel over each pizza, drizzle each with warmed fudge topping using a fork. Serve on large pizza stone or wooden pizza plank.
