A wonderful tasting dish! Gingered Plums and Orange Finale is simple yet so delicious. Easy to make and sure to impress.


  • 3/4 cup diet or regular ginger ale
  • 3 Tbsp. honey
  • 1/2 tsp. finely chopped crystallized ginger
  • 1 strip Sunkist® fresh orange peel (about 3 x 1 inch)
  • 1 cinnamon stick
  • 1 lb. red plums, quartered and pitted (about 6 large)
  • 3 Sunkist® oranges, peeled, cut in thick half cartwheel slices
  • Frozen light dairy dessert or soft frozen yogurt

Instructions: (Makes 6 servings)

  • In large saucepan combine ginger ale, honey, ginger, orange peel and cinnamon. Bring to a boil, reduce heat, simmer uncovered for 5 minutes.
  • Add plums gently boil for 4 to 6 minutes until plums are just tender. Remove from heat, discard orange peel and cinnamon stick. Reserve one half of the plums.
  • In food processor or blender process remaining plums and cooking liquid until smooth. Pour into bowl and add reserved plums to pureed mixture, chill.

  • To Serve: Spoon some sauce onto each of 6 dessert plates. Arrange orange half cartwheel slices over sauce. Spoon remaining sauce and plums over oranges. Top each serving with a very small scoop of frozen dessert.
