Grammy Award Winner Billy Dean and Local Kids Raise Money for the Little League Urban Initiative

Williamsport Kids Squeezing their Hearts Out to Serve Up Home-made Lemonade on August 25th at Wegmans on William Street

WHAT:
Wegmans and Sunkist Growers will be out in force selling home-made, fresh-squeezed lemonade for charity as part of the national Sunkist "Take a Stand" program. Local Wegmans employees will be out raising money to benefit the Little League Urban Initiative, a nonprofit that helps to organize and fund Little League teams in urban areas.

The Sunkist "Take a Stand" program encourages kids to embrace entrepreneurship and philanthropy by providing free lemonade stands and juicer kits to help them raise money for charity through an old-fashioned lemonade sale. In its third year, the program has distributed more than 10,000 stands to kids across the country who have pledged to donate the proceeds from their lemonade sale to a charity of their choice.

WHO:
Grammy Award-winning country music star and Sunkist "Take a Stand" spokesperson Billy Dean will host a live concert during the lemonade sale festivities to add to the fresh-squeezed fun. Billy Dean is also scheduled to sing the National Anthem during the Little League World Series on Thursday, August 24th. Dean released his debut album in 1990 with the hits "Only Here for a Little While" and the Grammy-nominated "Somewhere in My Broken Heart." His future hits included "Billy the Kid," "If There Hadn't Been You" and "We Just Disagree." Three of his albums were certified gold, and his self-titled 1991 effort earned platinum status.
