Navel Orange Upside Down Cake ingredients

  • 4 Sunkist® Navel oranges
  • 1.5 tablespoons of butter, melted
  • 3 tablespoons of brown sugar
  • .25 teaspoon salt
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1.75 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 package of instant vanilla pudding mix
  • 1 cup milk
  • 0.333 extra-virgin olive oil
  • 1 cup cane sugar
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract

Navel Orange Upside Down Cake

Directions

  1. Peel (or don’t) Sunkist® Navel oranges and slice into ⅛ inch rounds.
  2. Preheat oven to 350 degrees fahrenheit.
  3. Whisk together flour, baking powder, salt, and pudding mix in a bowl.
  4. In a separate bowl, whisk together milk, oil, vanilla, sugar, until well combined.
  5. Pour wet ingredients into dry ingredients and mix until combined. Set aside.
  6. Line pan with parchment paper, and top with melted butter to cover the bottom.
  7. Sprinkle brown sugar evenly over the bottom of the pan, and align oranges in a circular pattern until the bottom of the pan is covered.
  8. Pour batter over the Sunkist® Navel oranges and spread without moving the slices too much.
  9. Bake 35-45 minutes or until the cake is set (toothpick should come out clean).
  10. Allow to cool, slice and enjoy!
