Sunkist Appoints Licensing VP

June 2, 2004, Sherman Oaks, Calif....Greg Combs, who has extensive experience with name brand international food franchisers, has been appointed Vice President, Global Licensing for Sunkist Growers, said Jeff Gargiulo, president and chief executive officer. Combs' succeeds Ashok Patel, a twenty three-year Sunkist veteran who has accepted a position to set up a licensing business for a global food and beverage company.

"Trademark licensing began at the nation’s leading citrus marketing cooperative in the mid-1970s,” said Gargiulo. The Sunkist brand is now carried on more than 600 products in 50 countries worldwide. In terms of revenues generated, License magazine ranked Sunkist number 26 in its list of 101 leading licensors. It declared Sunkist the largest food and beverage licensor in the world, ranking even above Coke, which was listed as number 34.
Combs comes to Sunkist from Efficient Systems where he served as Managing Partner, providing project based consulting to firms seeking to expand in the US and abroad. He recently took part in the establishment and launch of a British-based firm to manufacture, distribute and market low carbohydrate food products in the United Kingdom and Europe.
Previously Combs was Managing Director of Pacific Rim Operations for Kinko’s International, Inc., concentrating on market expansion in Japan, Korea and China.
Prior to Kinko’s, Combs held a number of positions with Allied Domecg Retailing International Company (ADRI), the world’s second ranking distiller and owner of Baskin-Robbins and Dunkin Donuts franchises. As Vice President and Senior Director of International Operations, Combs was responsible for the start-up, operation and development of company owned and franchised Baskin-Robbins and Dunkin Donuts outlets in China, India, Australia and five Southeast Asian markets.
Combs graduated from Pepperdine University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics. He went on to obtain a Master’s Degree in International Management from the American Graduate School of International Management in Glendale, Arizona.
