If most barbecue sauces are too sweet for your taste, you'll enjoy the well-rounded flavor of this all-purpose sauce for pork. BR's Lickin' Good Country-Style Ribs, oven-cooked or grilled over coals, are finger-lickin' good!

Ingredients:

  • 4 lbs. country-style pork ribs
  • 1 ½ cups ketchup
  • 14 oz. beef broth
  • 1 Sunkist® lemon, grated peel and juice
  • 3 Tbsp. sugar
  • 1 Tbsp. Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 medium clove garlic, minced
  • 2 tsp. curry powder
  • 2 tsp. chili powder
  • 2 tsp. paprika
  • 1/8 tsp. pepper

Instructions: (Makes 6 servings)

  • Trim any excess fat from the ribs and arrange them in a shallow roasting pan or pans.
    •
  • Cover with aluminum foil and bake at 350 degrees F for 1-1/4 hours.

  • Meanwhile, to make the sauce, in a large saucepan, combine remaining ingredients and bring to a boil.
    •
  • Reduce heat and simmer briskly, uncovered, for 10 minutes to blend the flavors.
    •
  • Remove the ribs from the oven and spoon off the excess fat from the pan.
    •
  • Cover the ribs with half the sauce and continue baking, uncovered, 1 hour longer, or until the pork is tender, basting occasionally with the sauce in the roasting pan.

  • Serve with the remaining sauce.
    TO BARBECUE PORK SPARERIBS:

  • Precook 4 to 6 pounds of pork spareribs as follows: In a large saucepot, cover ribs with water and bring to a boil. Reduce heat and simmer for 45 to 50 minutes.

  • Drain.
    •
  • To barbecue the ribs, brush with the sauce and barbecue on a grill 4 to 6 inches above glowing coals for 10 to 15 minutes on each side, brushing often with sauce.
