Cara Cara and Blood Orange Bread ingredients

  • 2 cups flour
  • 1.33 cups sugar
  • 1 cup freshly-squeezed Sunkist® orange juice (Cara Cara orange or blood orange)
  • .5 cup butter, melted
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 tablespoon Sunkist® orange zest
  • 2 teaspoons salt
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract

Optional Glaze ingredients

  • 1 tablespoon freshly-squeezed Sunkist® orange juice (Cara Cara orange or blood orange)
  • .33 cup powdered sugar

Preparation: 20 minutes

Baking: 45 minutes

Cara Cara and Blood Orange Bread

Directions
  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
  2. Grease a 9-inch loaf pan.
  3. Combine flour, salt and baking powder, mix together in a large bowl.
  4. In a separate bowl, mix freshly-squeezed Sunkist® orange juice, orange zest, melted butter, sugar and vanilla extract until smooth.
  5. Beat in eggs one at a time. Combine with dry ingredients and mix until well-incorporated.
  6. Pour batter into the well-greased loaf pan.
  7. Bake at 350 degrees F for 40-45 minutes.
  8. Use a toothpick to check if the bread is done. If the toothpick comes out of the bread clean, it is done. If there is dough on the toothpick, bake for a couple more minutes.
  9. Allow to cool before serving.
  10. Optional: pour prepared glaze over bread (recipe below).

  1. In a bowl, mix powdered sugar and freshly-squeezed Sunkist® orange juice.
